Post Forum Rules
In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of the Staff Members.

General Rules:
* This forum is ages 18+. Use of some foul language used "good naturedly" is ALLOWED.
* While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate too much rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.
* Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the such.
* Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.
* Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.
* We also do not allow posts that are explicitly sexual in nature or violate Rated PG-16 community standards. House of Carpe shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.
* Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.
* Discussion of religious or political nature is not allowed. There are plenty of sites that can be done at. Not here. Period.
* Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.
Please use your UT playing name to register. If we don't recognize you, we won't activate you.
* We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.
* If you are going to post non-English on these forums, please also post an English Translation of your post.
* Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.
* We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules, game rules, or anyone we generally dislike. Access to our gaming forums, servers and voice servers is a privilege and not a right.

These rules will be updated as needed.

Post Re: Forum Rules
update:

General Guidelines for STAYING relatively on topic, and why:

While we are trying to maintain a "free and easy" approach to these forums, we are finding the need to clarify and out-right state what should be common sense rules of conduct. Drifting off topic is a relatively natural progression much as a conversation would. However, this is a forum, and threads need to be bumped back onto topic if they start spiraling too far from the authors original intent. This is a moderators function.

It really is about respecting the authors intent in a particular thread. A thread may be started as a suppository (not the kind in your butt!) of information and it can become very cumbersome to pull out that information for someone looking for it. As well, the author may feel somewhat, or very strongly, about his thread, and to post useless or non-related information can be interpreted as a "slap in the face".

Small little collectives of people (as we started out) don't need extensive rules or regulations, but as things grow (picture Gene Wilder saying "it's aliiiiiiiiive") the need for checks and balances increases to prevent chaos (no pun intended).

Please keep in mind the fair amount of work done behind the scenes for all of this shit (gestures around the virtual HoC world).... angst, people bitching, issues, problems, etc etc... having to spell out what should be common sense things only adds to the workload.

Please do your best to keep on topic in any thread... we don't want to lose the humour and fun, but use a bit of common sense.

Thank you

Post Re: Forum Rules
Can't believe I have to actually post this as a reminder to all, but...

Please feel free to make suggestions or make constructive criticism for all things forum related. Criticize to your hearts content. Feedback is great. However, please ensure you do it in a constructive manner. Consider that you're not actually speaking to anyone so all tonal conversation cues are absent. Since we can't see the (potential) stupid smirk on your face, the reader may not infer your "serious with a hint of jovial" ideas/thoughts based on your words if you do not choose/arrange them with some care. They just might interpret it as you being an asshole, an idiot, a dickwad or all of the preceding. Then the flames/wars/hurt feelings start and before you know it another fuckin' soap opera blossoms into being. They suck; the soap operas' that is.

Please.

Peace, thanks....

and, for illustrative purposes (and to perpetuate good ol' Aesop's work)

The Wind and the Sun were disputing which was the stronger. At that moment, a traveler came into view coming down the road. The Sun says: “I see a way to decide our dispute. Whichever of us can cause that traveler to take off his cloak shall be regarded as the stronger. You begin.” So the Sun retires behind a cloud and the Wind begins to blow as hard as it can upon the traveler. But the harder he blows the more closely the traveler wraps his cloak round him, till at last the Wind gives up in despair. The Sun comes out and shines in all his glory upon the traveler who soon finds warm and beautiful to walk with his cloak on.

the moral ? Don't blow strange travelers, or.... kindness effects more than severity.

p.s. The above all apply to posting in general, about anything, anytime, anywhere. Unless you really want to be a dickwad.
